Strength (2) Mark McIlroy 18.03.2026 Today's post is about strength. Is strength an important issue? If you're being attacked and need to defend yourself then I guess strength might be critical. However I have two issues with this. Strength as an issue has permeated every area of life. In recruitment there are strong resumes and weak resumes, in the academic world there are strong academic results and weak academic results. In the arts such as music, I suspect that it's the strongest person that makes it, not always the person with the best voice. None of these things are good things. In my opinion kindness is a sign of strength. I would like to see a world where brutality was criticised, not honoured. I don't believe that brutality is actually a sign of a strong person inside. I'll cover this last statement by asking do most brutal people fight something larger than themselves, or attempt to destroy someone that is unable to defend themselves.
