Winners, losers and focus Mark McIlroy 10.03.2026 Today I'm going to post an issue that some might find offensive, so I apologise in advance if that's the case, however it's an important topic. That is the difference between winners and losers. Winners are focused on themselves. They work on themselves to make themselves stronger, smarter, and better at whatever they do. Losers are focused on other people. They try to stand equal to others by dragging other people down to their level. Unfortunately, because they rarely do any work especially on themselves it's generally a very low level. I'll add one other observation and that is losers seem to have a burning desire to be in charge. Winners are content to play sport, advance their career or art, or just live life and don't have the slightest interest in being in charge. I will also briefly mention two other categories. Self-absorbed people are constantly thinking about themselves. That's not the same as working on yourself while watching the rest of the world at the same time. Self-absorbed people generally have very little knowlege and perspective on the world, which makes them a nightmare. Finally and most importantly there are observers. Observers are nice people. Observers don't get involved in the game of life but quietly watch what is going on. The world would be a better place if more people were observers. So overall, on reflection if you find that you are criticising other people a lot, it might be a good idea to do the entire world a favour and put the focus on yourself for a change, and work on improving your knowlege etc.
